Jones Family News for Nottingham

Hello Nottingham (and other British friends),

We’ve got some bitter-sweet news.

I have been invited to come and lead a Christian congregation south of Cambridge and Irdi, my children and I have all agreed that we should say ‘yes’.

In many ways, the nature of our work will not be changing much. We will still be preaching good news and mentoring Christians. But now we will be doing it below Cambridge, with a new crew and wearing the hat of an official pastor and family.

The congregation we are taking on is a small one, but one that is hungry for renewal and wanting to engage their community with the gospel. As is the case, we want to work with them.

After almost seven years in Nottingham there is some sadness to this. I, particularly, have developed a rather nostalgic love for this city. Some of the best friendships I have ever enjoyed have been formed in this city. We are not leaving a bad situation. Rather we feel God leading us into a situation where we can better serve him.

When will we leave? We are looking to move soon: in mid-April.

What can you do?
  • Pray. Please pray that we would go and minister in the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • Help. Do you know anyone in the area - or moving into the area – who wants to join a church seeking renewal? We are open to taking people with us!
  • Come and say good-bye. On Wednesday evening, April 13th, I will be celebrating my time here in Nottingham (probably at the Malt Cross) and would love for my friends and acquaintances to swing by and join me. Message me or watch this space for more info
Cambridge is not too far – only two hours. We hope to be back often for visits and are more than happy to welcome Nottingham friends who are willing to make the trek down to see us.

‘In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: preach the word!’

-2 Timothy 4
